Intronaut is an American progressive metal band from Los Angeles, formed in 2004. Their sound blends progressive metal with jazz fusion and post-metal influences, characterized by complex rhythms, intricate guitar work, and dynamic song structures that avoid traditional verse-chorus formats. The band draws inspiration from acts like Meshuggah, Neurosis, and jazz fusion pioneers, incorporating polyrhythmic drumming and atmospheric textures alongside heavy instrumentation. Their approach emphasizes instrumental interplay and compositional depth, with albums like "Void" (2010) and "Habitual Levitations" (2015) establishing them as notable figures in the modern progressive metal underground. Intronaut's music is defined by technical precision balanced with exploratory, often dissonant soundscapes.
