Hum is an American alternative rock band known for their distinctive blend of heavy, guitar-driven soundscapes and introspective lyrics. Emerging from Champaign, Illinois, in the late 1980s, their music is often categorized under the space rock and shoegaze genres. Influenced by bands like My Bloody Valentine and Swervedriver, Hum's sound is defined by its layered guitar textures and ethereal vocal delivery.
