The group, led by vocalist Sully Erna, built their style around thick, distorted guitars, prominent bass lines, and a blend of hard rock aggression with melodic elements. Their music draws influence from bands like Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, and Alice in Chains. The band achieved mainstream success in the late 1990s and 2000s with albums like "Godsmack" (1998) and "Faceless" (2003), characterized by dark, introspective lyrics and a powerful, groove-oriented approach to metal. They remain active in touring and recording, maintaining a dedicated fanbase within the heavy rock community.
