Elana Brody — artist

As a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and celebrated vocalist, Elana Brody spins musical stories that break open hearts and move big emotions. Susan Rogers, engineer for Prince stated "Elana is my favorite Genius. Anything she does will be ahead of its time." With roots in rural Appalachia, Elana followed the songwriting muse to Berklee College of Music, followed by a decade of performance life and prayer leadership in New York City. Her original sound reaches outward from the fertile Americana soil of the Appalachian mountains, toward genres and textures of the wider world, incorporating klezmer, jazz, soul, worship, community singing, broadway and cabaret influences. Melodic and adventurous, the new orchestral folk music that emerges as a result of this combination has been described by award-winning engineer George Massenberg as "Mind-blowing." A Hebrew priestess and prayer leader, alongside her work as a singer-songwriter, Elana incorporates healing and communal singing into her sets. She often invites audiences to join in the powerful, transformative space that musical expression provides. For Elana, music is not just a "performance", but an experience, meant to elevate us from the mundane to the transcendent. As one fan described, "If you want to know where the wild things go, follow Elana Brody. She'll take you there."
