Editors is a British rock band formed in Birmingham in 2002, initially known as Snowfield before changing their name in 2004. Their sound blends post-punk revival with alternative rock, characterized by angular guitar work, atmospheric production, and introspective vocals from frontman Tom Smith. The band draws influence from post-punk acts like Joy Division and Gang of Four, as well as contemporary alternative rock. Their debut album "The Back Room" (2005) established them as part of the mid-2000s post-punk revival movement. Editors' music is defined by moody, layered arrangements and emotionally restrained yet intense vocal delivery.
