Eddie Prévost is a British percussionist and composer known for his work in free improvisation and experimental music. He co-founded the AMM (Association for the Advancement of Music), a pioneering ensemble that emerged from the British avant-garde scene in the 1960s. Prévost's approach emphasizes listening, silence, and spontaneous interaction rather than predetermined structures, drawing influence from John Cage's indeterminate music and the broader free jazz movement. His sound is characterized by unconventional use of percussion instruments and found objects, creating textural and atmospheric compositions. He has remained a central figure in European improvised music for over five decades.
