Disco is a genre that emerged in the early 1970s, characterized by its upbeat tempo, four-on-the-floor rhythms, and lush orchestration. Influenced by funk, soul, and Latin music, disco's sound is defined by its use of syncopated basslines, string sections, and prominent use of horns and keyboards. Artists like Donna Summer, Chic, and the Bee Gees were pivotal in popularizing the genre, which became synonymous with dance clubs and vibrant nightlife. Disco's legacy continues to influence modern electronic and pop music.
