Digital Underground was an influential hip-hop group from Oakland, California, known for their eclectic and playful style. Their sound was characterized by a fusion of funk, jazz, and rap, heavily influenced by artists like Parliament-Funkadelic. The group's innovative use of samples and humorous, party-centric lyrics set them apart in the late 1980s and early 1990s. They are also notable for launching the career of rapper Tupac Shakur, who was a member before achieving solo success.
