Coroner is a Swiss thrash metal band formed in 1983, known for their technical approach to the genre and incorporation of progressive elements. The trio—featuring guitarist Tommy Karevik, bassist Yves Stadler, and drummer Reed St. Mark—combines aggressive thrash riffing with complex song structures and jazz-influenced improvisation. Their sound was influenced by bands like Metallica and Slayer but distinguished by a more cerebral, experimental approach. Albums like "R.I.P." (1987) and "Punishment for Decadence" (1991) established them as innovators within thrash metal, blending speed with musicianship and compositional sophistication.
