Buraka Som Sistema is an Angolan electronic music collective formed in the early 2000s, known for pioneering a high-energy dance sound that blends traditional Angolan rhythms with modern electronic production. Their signature style fuses kuduro—a fast-paced, percussion-driven genre from Luanda—with house, techno, and hip-hop elements, creating music designed for both club and festival settings. The group draws influence from African dance traditions, global electronic music, and urban culture. Their work is characterized by rapid breakbeats, synthesizers, and often features collaborations with vocalists and MCs. Buraka Som Sistema gained international recognition in the late 2000s and became ambassadors for Angolan music on the global stage.
