Bloodbath is a Swedish death metal supergroup formed in 1998, featuring members from Opeth, Katatonia, and Paradise Lost. The band plays brutal, old-school death metal with a focus on heavy riffs and dark atmospherics, drawing influence from classic death metal acts like Entombed and Dismember. Their sound combines the Swedish melodic death metal tradition with straightforward heaviness, avoiding the progressive complexity their members explore in their primary projects. Albums like "Nightmares Made Flesh" and "The Fathomless Dark" showcase their commitment to visceral, groove-oriented death metal. Bloodbath functions primarily as a side project, with irregular activity and lineup changes throughout their career.
