Big Star was an American rock band from Memphis, Tennessee, active primarily in the early 1970s. Known for their pioneering work in the power pop genre, their music blended crisp guitar riffs with melodic hooks and introspective lyrics. Influenced by British Invasion bands like The Beatles and The Byrds, Big Star's sound is characterized by jangly guitars and harmonized vocals. Despite limited commercial success during their initial run, their work has been highly influential in shaping the sound of alternative and indie rock.
