Bell Biv DeVoe is an R&B and new jack swing group formed in 1990 by members Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, and Ronnie DeVoe, who were previously part of New Edition. The group emerged during the height of the new jack swing era, blending hip-hop rhythms with R&B vocals and incorporating contemporary production techniques. Their debut album "Poison" (1990) became a commercial success, featuring the hit single of the same name. The group's sound is characterized by rhythmic vocal arrangements, funk-influenced basslines, and the production style typical of early 1990s R&B. Bell Biv DeVoe helped define the new jack swing movement alongside producers and artists like Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis.
