Beenie Man, born Anthony Moses Davis on August 22, 1973, in Kingston, Jamaica, is a Grammy Award-winning artist renowned as the “King of Dancehall.” His career began remarkably early; he started performing at the age of five and recorded his debut single, “Too Fancy,” at just eight years old. By ten, he had released his first album, The Invincible Beenie Man: The Ten Year Old DJ Wonder .Beenie Man’s international acclaim surged in the 1990s with hits like “Who Am I (Sim Simma),” “Girls Dem Sugar” featuring Mýa, and “Dude.” His 2000 album, Art & Life, which included collaborations with Wyclef Jean and Arturo Sandoval, earned him the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album .In 2023, he released his 17th studio album, Simma, a project deeply influenced by personal experiences, including the loss of his mother. The album showcases his versatility and resilience in the dancehall genre .After a decade-long absence from the U.S. due to visa issues, Beenie Man returned in 2025, marking a significant moment in his career and reaffirming his status as a global ambassador for Jamaican music and culture .
