Asher Ben-Or — artist
Asher Ben-Or is a guitarist living in New York City. Born and raised in Manhattan, he has spent the past 12 years learning various styles on the guitar ranging from delta blues to jazz- his main area of expertise. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in jazz guitar performance from CUNY, and has studied with some of the greatest names in jazz including Peter Bernstein and Kenny Wessel of Ornette Coleman's Prime-Time. He gigs and teaches various styles of guitar and music theory regularly in NYC. A versatile and well- rounded musician, Asher has gigged in the New York area in rock bands, cover bands, as a solo guitarist, and has played in many restaurants and clubs in a jazz context. He has also performed professionally as an accompanist to musical theater singers. In addition to being an avid performer, Asher is a passionate guitar teacher with the capability of teaching many styles of music, as well as the skill of singing and playing guitar simultaneously. He is also an expert at music theory and ear-training, and is available as a private instructor to non-guitarists for lessons in these areas.
