Adrian Younge — artist

Adrian Younge

Adrian Younge is an American composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist celebrated for reviving vintage soul and cinematic jazz through modern storytelling. Based in Los Angeles, he records almost exclusively on analog equipment—favoring tape machines and live instrumentation—to capture the warm, organic sound of 1960s and ’70s classic records. Younge first gained widespread attention co‐producing and scoring the soundtrack for the cult film Black Dynamite, and later helmed Ghostface Killah’s Twelve Reasons to Die series, fusing hip‐hop with orchestral flourishes.Beyond film work, he’s released a string of acclaimed solo albums (like Venice Dawn and The American Negro Symphony) that blend soul, jazz, and orchestral motifs into cohesive, narrative‐driven pieces. In 2014, he formed the supergroup The Midnight Hour with Ali Shaheed Muhammad, further exploring genre‐bending soul and R&B. As founder of Linear Labs, Younge continues to push the envelope—building custom vintage gear, mentoring emerging artists, and consistently crafting lush, timeless compositions that bridge past and present.
